Centered in the trendy downtown arts district, the eye-catching swirl of steel, glass, and zinc that is the Art Gallery of Alberta is home to over 6,000 permanent pieces, and is the host of several exclusive exhibitions throughout the year. The AGA develops and presents original exhibitions of contemporary and historical art from Alberta, Canada, and around the world. Don’t miss the chance to see a rare Rembrandt or Van Gogh sketch in the Dutch Landscapes exhibit, on through June 16, 2013. Starting June 29, 2013 through October 6, 2013, the AGA will house an exclusive collection of photographs on loan from the renowned National Gallery of Canada. The AGA also offers tours, family events, book clubs, lunch-hour seminars, film screenings, and drop-in workshops — most are free or included with regular admission. A visit to the Shop AGA retail store is one of the most unique shopping experiences in the city with its collection of locally made products, exhibition-inspired books, and children’s toys and activities.
